Simon Davies is Fulham’s player of the year

At last! Proof that you can trust the public to make the right decision. I’m delighted to say that Simon Davies, our outstanding midfielder, has been named our player of the year. The official site announced the news this afternoon in which it highlighted his contribution in 39 matches last season and his comments, reprinted below, when our premiership status was far from secure. Click here for the full story. Many congratulations Simon, it is thoroughly, thoroughly deserved.

When Fulham’s Premiership future was still in the balance last season, Davies’ commitment to the Club was clear for all to see, as he said before the final match at Fratton Park: “I’d stay [if Fulham were relegated]. I think if you go down with a club, you owe it really to try, as a group of players, to get back up.”

Bobby Zamora: A Fulham legend is born?

Okay, it’s ridiculously early to be heralding our new arrival as the answer to our striking prayers but Bobby Zamora scored a wonder strike in our 3-1 victory over Celtic this afternoon. Unfortunately FtF wasn’t able to make it to the game today so any comments, thoughts, views would be very gratefully received. Read more about the match on the official site here.

Fulham training camp cut short

Bizarre news from the Moritz Volz blog about a training camp for the lads being cut short and a newly arrived fitness coach already heading back to Blackburn. What on earth is going on? Does this mean there’s unrest in the camp? Is it totally irrelevent?

Brian McBride to play at the Olympics

Incredible stuff. Our former captain and Fulham legend Brian McGod has been named as one of the squad for the Olympic games out in Beijing. The United States are in Group B alongside Japan, Holland and Nigeria. Click here for more.

Bobby Zamora moving house

If you’ve got a house for sale in the Fuham area then Bobby Zamora may be interested. Our new striker has said he’s planning to move nearer SW6 from his current home in Essex. On the footballing front he’s obviously been listening to Roy already as he’s saying the main goal is survival first…don’t we know that, eh? See the full press conference here.

Fulham new boys could make their debuts against Celtic

Firstly a warm welcome to Bobby Zamora and John Pantsill who have joined the ranks for a combined total of circa £6m from West Ham. From comments made by Roy Hodgson it looks like our two new arrivals could be making their first appearances in a white shirt this coming weekend against Celtic.

“At the moment our two front players are very similar so we need a player like Bobby Zamora who can lead the line for us and hold the ball up,” Roy Hodgson explained. “He’s got a lot of qualities. He will win challenges in the air and be a physical presence in the box. We’re very happy to have him and John Pantsil – it’s an excellent double signing and I’m sure they’ll do well for Fulham.

New book for Fulham fans

Our friends over at CCN have just published the Fulham Review 07/08 which covers our, er, eventful past season in the Premier League. I bought last year’s one which was fantastic so it’s definitely worth taking a look – and it’s a bargain price, too. Click here for more info.
